Molokai July 2023
I’m often asked what a trip to Molokai is like. I hope this video answers a lot of questions. The trip starts at Mokulele Airlines which is very relaxed in almost every way. There’s a decent food truck and some onsite parking. All bags are weighed and seat assignments are done to balance the load on the plane. Did we mention it’s a small plane. Smmmaaalll!
The flight to Molokai is short and fairly low. I don’t think we hit 7,000′. After landing you get whatever ground transportation you arranged for. Turo does a thriving business on Molokai and is an easy to arrange pickup. Check in at Hotel Molokai is pretty simple. It’s a nice hotel for divers. And it’s the only real hotel on the island. The restaurant is decent but in no risk of getting a Michelin Star.
The night dive the day of arrival is great. Captain Tim and Crew are fabulous and fun to hang out with. The diving is excellent and memorable. Getting in a Hammerhead dive is condition dependent. We made it and saw a Giant Hammerhead and some divers saw a couple of Scalloped Hammerheads as well. I hope you enjoy the video.
