Fins

Fins are essential gear. In diving we sometimes discuss “personal gear”. This means Mask, Snorkel, and Fins. It’s personal as it is important to get a good fit. When looking at fins the first decision is barefoot or boots. We like boots. Boots provide support, protection, and warmth. When buying fins the first thing to do is settle on your boots. It’s important that your boot/fin combo work well together and allow you efficient transfer of power and solid finning control.

Try Before You Buy. Fins are expensive and they all look great and can feel great in a shop. That’s different than diving them. We want you to take them diving and try them. We typically give a diver two pairs of fins to try on a charter. The fins to the right are the Fourth Element Tech Fins. They are slightly negatively buoyant and have a soft top of the foot pocket for additional comfort. They are easy on and off and are powerful in the water with nice finning. Ed dives these fins. We generally have all available sizes on hand for you to try.

We also carry most sizes of the popular Deep6 Eddy. These are exceptional finning fins. These fins are slightly positively buoyant and come in many colors including the signature orange. Both these and the Fourth Element fins have comfortable heel straps and are easy on and off. The Eddy’s are a little easier to put on and off.

We have most sizes of the Eddy available to try.

Some divers prefer a recreational style fin. We carry the Fourth Element Rec Fin and have most sizes available to try. A professional diver bought a pair from us and loves it. He says his frog kick propels him efficiently forward. These are excellent fins for someone who doesn’t want an expensive tech fin.

We also have some xDeep Tech fins that are very negative.
